ABOUT THE URN

The Viking Ship Urn is ideal for a land or sea burial.

You can also use it for a Viking funeral pyre. While you can’t send your loved one to Valhalla in a traditional Viking ceremony, they can be placed in this ship urn and be sent off like a Viking warrior.

We encourage you to read this article which discusses scattering ashes in rivers, state parks and other water ways.

This urn comes in three (3) designs – Plain with no shields, with brown shields, or the colored shields option.

A Memorial is not only a time to remember the love you shared with your loved one and pay tribute to them, but is also a chance to create one final memory with a special send-off.

The Viking ship Urn, allows you to create meaningful memories with family and friends during this final farewell.

The Colors on the colored shields design have significance:

  • Red represents Strength, and sometimes danger and hostility. Red was the color of war.
  • Yellow represents Earthly power and a strong will able to manifest one’s desire.
  • Black is associated with death. the binding of the living to the dead.
  • Red and Yellow were also associated with wealth since the pigment that was used to make those colors had to be imported.

A Viking ship with Red and black shields landing on your shore usually meant the Vikings were intent on war.

ABOUT THE ARTIST – MORGAN CLEMENTS

Morgan Clements is an award winning artist who received his MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.

Morgan Clements is a representational and impressionistic sculpture. That mean he is interested in sculpting things in a recognizable and relatable way. His MFA Thesis was based on funerary and religious art and creating ceramic art that could withstand outdoor display in harsh conditions.

While exploring ideas for headstones and monuments made of clay, Morgan realized there was a real need for artistic urns that didn’t look like urns. While exploring this idea, he came across the green burial movement and decided to make a line of urns that are earth friendly.

When he realized that urns need to be more than containers for ashes, he began designing urns that could be a central part of the memorial service, or could be displayed in the home until it was time to find a perfect spot to place it.

He wanted to create urns that were true pieces of art. And in his mind that meant more than just being beautiful.

In order to be art, the urns had to have innate meaning and the ability to evoke within the viewer something meaningful to them, something the viewer could connect with. But more importantly, something that would connect them to their lost loved one.
While being an artist is rewarding.

Morgan says there is nothing more rewarding than hearing how much his urns have helped someone connect with their lost loved one and have a meaningful memorial.

Our Eco-Friendly Caskets and Body Carriers are handcrafted by skilled weavers.

Each casket or carrier is created from Eco-Friendly, Sustainable Materials such as fast-growing Willow, Seagrass, or Bamboo.

Using Willow, Seagrass or Bamboo leaves a small carbon footprint as they don’t require heavy machinery to harvest them.

Traditional caskets often feature metal components and/or heavy chemical finishes that do not easily break down in the soil.

In comparison, our Eco-Friendly Caskets are recommended for burials directly into the ground (without a grave liner or vault) and they will break down naturally over time. (usually 9 Months to 2.5 Years depending on the soil the casket is placed in)
